What is the best way to store historical data ??

Hi....Please find below my requirement-

I need to store certain data on a monthly basis - for eg. Total number of users using my protal , total num of projects etc every month .

Its done ao that i can generate monthly reports using these statistics.

Note - With lapse of time data will grow bigger in size like may be 10 yrs down the line.

Question - How and Where to store these data ?? In XML , Excel Sheets or using any Database .

because IO operations will be performed , so it could lead to many issues. Need to consider all those factors.

What is the best Approach to store these Huge Historical Data??

Please show me direction!!

Hi,

I would suggest to start off with databases and then later on move this to some OLAP(Ex terradata) for mining.
