Hi All,

My company is planning to upgrade our SAP 4.6C to ECC 6.0. Current database format is EBCDIC on DB2(System i).

I appreciate, if forum can help me to guide in right direction and prep work required for ECC 6.0 upgrade.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Nawal

Hi Naval,

you need a Codepage Conversion from EBCDIC to ASCII from a certified person and then you can start the upgrade to ECC 6. You can stay on ASCII or jump then to unicode as well - both is in latin 1 environments supported ...

Thanks Voelker,

So ASCII format is Ok with ECC 6.0? or do we have to have unicode for ECC 6.0?

Another ?.

Do we have verify any thing in EBCDIC data before converting to ASCII?

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Nawal,

Both ASCII and Unicode are supported on ERP/ECC 6.0.

Depends on how many languages you want to support in your ECC system whether or not you need Unicode.

But you can always convert later rather easely from ASCII to Unicode if needed.

The checks on your current EBCDIC 4.6 installation before converting to ASCII are numerous and all part of the EBCDIC to ASCII code page conversion (CPC) which are all done by the certified CPC engineer.

Good luck,

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your input and suggestion. One more thing... Is there any way to find check list for 4.6C EBCDIC before converting to ASCII?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Nawal
