Question on Internal and External Catalogs.?

Hello SRM ,

What is the differance betweeen the Internal and External Catalogs.

If i am not wrong

1.Internal Catalogs-->Product Master Data maintained in the SRM system or which we get from the Backend R/3

2.External catalogs-->Catalogs hosted by vendors.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

If that is the case how do we configure the External catalogs with the SRM system so that a user can pick the items from a Ext Catalog while shopping.

How many External catalogs can we maintain in SRM system,and how are they seen in the portal.

Please clarify and Explain

Hi,

The answer is who manages the catalog content. Internal Catalog = Buyer side maintains contents. External catalog = Supplier side maintains catalog. The communication interface OCI is same for both Internal and External catalog. You can maintain unlimited catalogs in SRM.

Hi,

Please go to SPRO transaction and define the Catalog.

SRM -> SRM Server -> Master Data -> Define External Web Services (Catalog, Vendor List etc.)

It is same setting for Internal Catalog. Only pointing catalog URL is different.
