NW LifeCycle Designer compatibility

Hallo Experts,

i am a little bit confused about the right Adobe LifeCycle Designer version concerning the NW stack.

Since NW2004 SP18 the designer is excluded from the developer studio.

The Marketplace software download area lists the following installer versions

SAP NETWEAVER 04 - Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.1

(but why are the software labeled as 2004s cause 2004s is 7.0?!? under Path 04)

SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 - Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0

In some posts the is a hint using LifeCyle Designer v7.0 with NW2004.

Maybe 7.1 is compatible with 7.0 and the right release since SPx?

What are the right combinations of NetWeaver Stack/Studio and LifeCycle Designer?

NW 2004 SP18 - Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0 or 7.1?

NW 2004 SP23 - Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0 or 7.1?

NW 7.0 SPxx - Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0?

NW CE 7.1 SPxx - Adobe LiveCycle Designer ???

I did not find any information about this (PAM, SAP Notes, Marketplace, etc).

Maybe someone has the technical background concerning this questions.

Best wishes,

Holger

Holger,

To be able to work with SAP Adobe Interactive forms the minimum version of LiveCycle Designer required is 7.1. This version can work for following releases per note 962763

- SAP NetWeaver '04 SPS 18 (or higher)

- SAP NetWeaver 2004s SPS 5 (or higher)

- SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 SP00 (or higher)

ALD 8.0 is is applicable for following releases as per Note 1121176

- SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SP-14 (or higher)

- SAP EhP1 for NetWeaver 7.0

- SAP NetWeaver 7.1 SP-4 (or higher)

- SAP NetWeaver 7.1 CE SP-3 (or higher)

As a rule the NWDS version and the WAS version where you deploy you application should match.

Lets take an example, if you are on NW04 and deploy your applications on Portal WAS which is on SP20 then NWDS 2.0.20 is recommended, whereas if you are NW 7.0 and deploy the application on Portal WAS SP 15 then NWDS 7.0.15 is recommended.

Now which version of ALD to choose in above scenario. In former case it will definitely be ALD 7.1 and in the latter case it can be either ALD 7.1 / 8.0 whichever you prefer.

Hope that clarifies your questions.
