Hello Friends,
We are taking Daily Online Backups using Third Party Backup Device.
I want to take offine backup of one SAP System, which is not yet performed. The regualr daily online backup is performed for this SAP System. I have arranged for the new Tapes, on which i want to take Monthly Offline Backups.
Now, Third Party Tool Side operations related to new Tapes are completed.
I want to initialize the New Tapes with BRTOOLS. This step is necessary.
I want the detailed Procedure for initializing Tapes. I am confused with this Parameter "volume_backup" of init<DBSID>.sap file.
currently the values specified for volume_backup are :
volume_backup = (RQ1B01, RQ1B02, RQ1B03, RQ1B04, RQ1B05,
RQ1B06, RQ1B07, RQ1B08, RQ1B09, RQ1B10,
RQ1B11, RQ1B12, RQ1B13, RQ1B14, RQ1B15,
RQ1B16, RQ1B17, RQ1B18, RQ1B19, RQ1B20,
RQ1B21, RQ1B22, RQ1B23, RQ1B24, RQ1B25,
RQ1B26, RQ1B27, RQ1B28, RQ1B29, RQ1B30)
With which Volume name i will have to initialize New Tapes, on which i want to take Offline Backup for Several same SAP Systems.
May i have step-by-step Information related to Backup Tape Initialization using BRBACKUP which will work with Tape Device.

Hi Sunil,
Thanks for your Reply.
I already read that help document.
But, My confusion is that, Which Tape Volume i will have to give while Initializing The New Tape ?
Whether I have to use Existing Volumes or need to Declare Additional New Tape Volumes in volume_backup parameter of init<DBSID>.sap profile.
or,
Only
BRBACKUP -i force
will be enough to initialize the New Tape which is mounted in Networked Backup Tape Device.

You can display the names of the volumes required for the next run as follows:
brbackup -q
You can check whether you have mounted the correct volume in the backup device with:
brbackup -q check
