hi sir

i installed SAP with Oracle database in RHEL-4.0.how can i take disk backup.please tell me procedure for this

Did you try to do some research before posting? Check

--> Backup and Recovery (bottom page area)

hi Markus Doehr

i already read that documentation.that documentation is not good.can i do any changes in initSID.sap file for disk backup.can i take directly from db13.

Not good? What is unclear? The document

is a very good document and explains in-depth how the backup is working.

i already i followed that document but that document tells change parameters in initSID.sap file.it has default tape backup.for disk back up can i change in that parameter file or can i take directly from DB13 tcode

Yes - if you want to do a disk backup you have to change the init<SID>.sap file accordingly.

if i take backup from BR tools.will it ask location of disk.

it will not ask the disk location you have to configure the file init<SID>.sap first before starting the backup. also make sure that you have sufficient free space.
