Hello,
We are having Content server with MaxDB+AIX platform. We are taking backup in production system
manually using DBT GUI tool & it saved to filesystem at particular location.
My concern - is it possible to schedule this backup using any backup tool as normally done in R/3 system. I was wondering for any option in DBT(Database manager tool) to schedule this weekly instead of manually taking daily.
Any suggestion would be of great help..
thank you

Hello Malenie,
Thanks for the reply...
We referred Note 588515 for CCMS configuration for Content server(MaxDB+AIX). Acc to note first we need to integrate MaxDB into our monitoring server(Solman).
Now when we are integrating DB server in DB59 but checking connection data then we are getting error logs :
Application Server: mtlssm1_SM1_01 ( AIX )
1. Connect. test with "dbmcli db_state" Unsuccessful
no_client_software
2. Connect. test with command mode "dbmrfc db_state" Unsuccessful
no_client_software
3. Connect. test with session mode "dbmrfc db_state" Unsuccessful
no_client_software
4. Connect. test with "native SQL" ( MAXDB ) Unsuccessful
For detailed information, see the developer trace for work process:
So when we are reffering the Note then they are asking abt installing "MaxDB client installation- 649814"
So my concern is that do we need to install this on Solution manager(Oracle10g+AIX) application server.
How it's possible on this server.
But the note says the same thing.
Could you plzz through some light on this part.
It would be great help.
Thank you
Anju

yes - to access a databases native interface you have to install a database client for that database.
Markus
Hello Anju,
yes, as Markus alraedy confirmed: you need to install the MaxDB client software on the Application server of your Oracle system. To be exact: on each Application server from which you would like to call transactions DB59, DB13C, etc.
How to do it: just follow the note... This does not install a MaxDB database - just the client software.
Best regards,
Melanie
hello Malenie,
thanks for useful information..but I have still doubts. Our MaxDB version is 7.6.01.08 but I 'm wondering in servicemarket place(OSS) , the client software available is available for following MAxDB version :

So could you plaese give idea from where we can get this software for our MaxDB(7.6.01.08).
Thanks
Anju
Hi Anju,
you can and should use the current version of the MaxDB client software.
It's downward compatible.
Besides this, it's always a good idea to install the current MaxDB patch also on the database server.
MaxDB 7.6.01.08 is already a bit dusty - so while you are at it, install the patch there as well.
regards,
Lars

Hello!
The answer is also part of the already recommended note:
If DB13C is to manage DBA actions of any SAP DB systems, and if the
database of the SAP WebAS is not SAP DB, you must carry out an SAP DB
"Runtime For SAP AS" installation on each SAP WebAS. This procedure is
described in Note 649814.
You might also want to check out note 990602.

You can use a third party backup software to do that or use a simple script and schedule in on the operating system using cron.

Hello Anju,
check out note 431508.
DBMGUI does not allow to schedule a backup. But you can integrate the content server into any SAP system and use DB13C / DBA Planning Calendar.

Melanie
