Sorry for posting this thread. As so many threads already posted on this.

Price group (customer)

A grouping of customers who share the same pricing requirements.

Use

You can define price groups according to the needs of your organization

and create pricing records for each group. You can, for example, define

a group of customers to whom you want to give the same kind of discount.

You can assign a price group to an individual customer either in the

customer master record or in the sales document.

Price list type

Identifies a price list or other condition type (for example, a

surcharge or discount).

Use

You can define price list types according to the needs of your own

organization. Price list types can be grouped according to:

This is what i seen in the forum.

Could anyone kindly explain in simple language why sap has given both

and what exactly is the difference.

Your answers highly appriciated.

Hi there,

Price grp is grouping of the customers as per the business process. For eg that may be wholesale, retail, foreign, government & non-profit organisations. Business wil accrodingly give discounts to the price groups. Also pricing is sometimes done separately for different price grps.

Price list is the catalog which specifies the price of materials in that company code / sales org for eg

Hi,

An organization can have more than one price list.

So based on the customer group, you can assign the correct price list.

Based on the price list assigned, the system will pull the correct price during sales order pricing.

Hi,

In our business we use customer group to group customers that belong to same customer organization.

For example, a customer has manufacturing facilities located in different regions. Each region customer is created with a seperate sold-to party number. All these sold-to party numbers are tied to a common bill-to and payer.

In this scenario we group all the customer locations (same customer but different sold-to) and give a same customer group name.

Whereas in the price group, we involve different customers for analyzing the pricing strategy.

Hi

One main business scenario where these are needed is to have a different price for the same material based on the price list/price group/customer group

Create 2 material price group as 100/200

Now create your access sequence as material/Material price group.

Maintain condition records for this combination say

Material X Price group 100 - price 100

Material X Price group 200 - price 65% of 100 that is Rs 65

Now in the sales order at the item level in the sales B tab, you can manually choose the material price group of the material and the appropriate price would be selected.

Price list also can be used

Now create your access sequence as material/customer/price list

Maintain the prices of the material in 2 price lists say whole sale and retail

For retail you can keep as Rs100 and in whole sale 65% of 100 that is Rs 65

You can add these fields in the incompletion log in OVA2 so that naturally the user has to fill up these fields and remember to tick the incomplete messages tick box in the transaction flow tab in VOV8

and also the customer group can be used for the same purpose

Here based on the price list/price list/ price group a same material you can maintain different prices

Regards

Raja

Dear Shiva,

Price group

The grouping of customers for the purpose of pricing.

For example, price groups can differentiate between wholesale customers and retail customers.

Price list

A register that is valid over a specific length of time and contains the catalog numbers and current prices of products.

I hope this will help you,

Regards,

Murali.

hello, friend.

Price Group

1. you can enter a value for this field in the customer master (for example: wholesaler, retailer, industrial buyer, etc).

2. use: for analysis (you can create queries and list customers or transactions for a particular price group

3. pricing (you can give pricing, discounts and surcharges to customers depending on which price group he belongs)

Price List

1. you can list material prices for a certain sales area + customer + plant combination

2. you can further restrict the price list on the basis of pricing date, item category, etc.

regards.
