Could someone tell me what is key mapping in MDM and steps to achieve it.

Go to Remote systems and MDM section.

For understanding the purpose of key mapping, go to Introduction section->Key mapping.

Now to understand the steps to perform the kep mapping, go to Remote System Operations->Specifying the key Mapping for a table.

Moreover with all refernce guides, you will find one section on Remote systems, you can find information on Key Mapping in each of the MDM components.

Hi Sonali,

MDM is a central data hub for master data storage.

So MDM interfaces with many other SAP and non SAP systems and extracts and saves and manages the master data coming form all these peripheral systems in to MDM.

So it is necesarry that MDM maintains the Unique keys for the records coming form different systems so that they can be identified while syndicating back to the target systems.

Key mapping is the faeture in MDM used to achieve this.

Using key mapping in MDM we can map the incoming source keys to a remote key in MDM.

This remote key field will always hold the primary key for teh incoming records form different systems.

To work with key mapping you need to:

- Set the key mapping as YES for the table you wish to maintain the source keys.

- On doing this a <remote key> virtual field is generated at the time of import in the MDM import manager

- You can map your source unique field to this remote key field.

- Similarlly you will find this remote key field at the tiem of syndication too in the MDM syndicator.

- You can map this field if you wnat to send out the remote key to the target systems.
