SAP XI/PI Vs Other Legacy EAI products

Hello Experts,

I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of SAP XI/PI over other EAI products like TIBCO, Webmethods or WBI. How can we deal client questions on why SAP XI and not my already implemented integration product (Client using or implementing SAP R/3 or any ISs)?

When we are trying to sell SAP XI/PI to a customer what are the tipping points or decision trees one leverage to choose between SAP XI and the Legacy Integration Tools?

Please help me with this - any documents to explain this - within SDN or on other sites?

Regards,

Yash

Hi,

For comparison advs/Dis advs this link should helpful to you

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_business_integration_software

Tel the advantages of PI rather than other middlewares and explain why we need the PI.

Why we need XI :

1. Up to now we are using point to point connection, which is not the best way.

2. XI is a middleware tool (you can send message to many apdaters:

SOAP, mail, file/ftp, JDBC,.. ) by XML messages .

3. Error handling and Sloving the error easrier.

4.Integrate with SAP and Non SAP applications and supports A2A and B2B integration.

5.XI has it's own Monitoring to track the incoming and outgoing messages

6.Synchronous and Asynchronous communication possible

7.Reusable components is the best thing

8.Reducing cost of development work in future

9.End to End montoring the messages in SAP XI is great

10.Maintance is easy .

11.Biggest Advantage of XI is that it supports web services.

12.BPM is there which enables us to impliment the business logic.

13.XI has a hub-n-spoke model as compared to publish -n-subscribe model of many other middlewares.

Others could be related to the pre delivered content that XI provides for various business

solutions.
