Unit of Measure does not copy to lower level items on sales document

Hi,

I am trying to get the item sales document's unit of meausre (VBAP-VRKME) to copy to the lower level item that explodes from the bill of material. I understand that the standard system is copying the unit of measure from the bill of material (CS03). I would like to be able to set it to be equal to that of it's higher level item. We are currently on version ECC 6.0. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

What is the business requirement here? Why do you need this function?

We are adding the unit of measure to the pricing access sequence. If I enter a product that explodes into a lower level item from the bill of material you can only enter the unif of measure on the high level material and it doesn't copy down to the lower level item and I want them to match.
