what is the different between "picking loc" and "storage loc" in SD module

Hi there,

Yes, in 1 sense they both are same.

Storage loc is where your goods are stored in a plant.

If warehouse WH is active for your plant, then you will have different location for picking & putaway.

If WH is active, when you do the goods issue you have to do the picking loc determination sothat the sytem picks the storage loc automatically. Pls make sure that you maintain storage bins if WH is active for your plant.

But when you do inbound delivery, the incoming items can be placed at a different location. This is called putwaay bin.

But if WH is not active, then picking loc & storage loc are both the same.

Dear Friend,

Diff. betweeen d two is more of theoratical.

Storage Location / section is used for putaway purpose i.e when goods have been received and need to be put away in d warehouse thus it's used in Inbound Del. It groups d storage bins for which thr is same putaway strategy whereas

Picking Area is used to pick d goods to b put into the carrier for Outbound Del. again for bins having same picking strategy.

Picking -While doing delivery we pick the material from storage location.

Storage location- Its a place were we keep the material temperarely
