Syndication process

Former Member

Hi,

I thank you all for helping me in vendor master import process.

now i want to syndicate the records. can someone validate my process

Use the Syndicator to create a syndication map.

Use the MDM Console to create an automatic outbound port on the source MDM repository.

Associate the syndication map with the port.

Set the portu2019s processing interval and next syndication date/time, as appropriate.

Once a map is loaded, it becomes the current map. The information in Syndicatoru2019s Tabs pane always reflects the state of the current map.

Use MDSS to automatically syndicate the records.

I got these steps in SDN, where does workflow come in picture.

Thanks,

Sonali

Hi Sonali,

First of all these are the steps for the Automatic Syndication of records from MDM :

Automatic Syndication-

1. Create an Outbound port with processing type as Automatic.

2. Open Syndication manager, you will see the fields created in MDM as Source items.

3. Goto,File,Destination properties,Choose the XML schema option first to do mapping.

4. Choose an XML schema which you have.

5. Proceed with field to field mapping, save the map with a specific name.

6. Add this map in the option which you have in Console.

7. Once again open syndicator & choose port option, you will be abkle to see the mapping of fields.

8. Goto,Syndication Server folder in Server,Open MDSS.ini file & change the password & username of your repository. Change the time interval also.

9. Resart the server to enable the changes made.

10. Check auto syndication by doing automatic changes.

You can find the complete process of Automated Import ansd Syndication in the 2 links mentioned below:

1) Master Data Management Import Server and Master Data Management Syndication Server - Webinar Powerpoint

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/8973bcaf-0801-0010-b7a7-f6af6b1d...

2) MDM Syndication - This gives you the MDSS config required in the .ini file

The 1st link will give you step by step info about Automatic Import and Syndication process.

This information will help you to perform the automatic syndication thorugh MDM.

Also follow links for reference.

Now coming to your questions about Workflows. That is used in Data manager for basically Governance process. There you can use MS-Visio and design the workflow. You can have approvals according to your need.

The records when imported to MDM are generally sent for Workflow so that the records can be enriched through authorized people under governance and then send them for Approval. After the workflow is over, generally we send them for syndication.

You can read about MDM Workflows through the following link:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/43/e0615f82b40a2ee10000000a11466f/frameset.htm

Go to-> Record Mode->MDM Workflows

Hope this info helps..

Hi Sonali,

Workflow comes in picture when you want to perform Automatic syndication through a governance mechanism using the MDM workflow.

MDM workflow has a Syndicate stencil, using which you can perform automatic syndication which is conditional unlike the usual way of doing it by just setting the MDSS.ini file and the port settings.

Using the syndiacte step in the workflow decides which records to be syndicated based on the condition you have used to trigger the workflow.

The records in the workflow are the ones that get syndicated.

This step also use the MDSS.ini file and the server settings to syndicated and the ports properties are all teh same except the ports processing type will be Manual instaed of automatic as this syndication is conditional.Howver the syndiaction happens automatically using the syndiacation server and the workflow steps

You can follow the below links to understand the same:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d0be83e4-a1e6-2a10-c1be-8395ae94...

Hope It Helped

Hi Sonali,

Your steps are correct for the scenario where you want to syndicate records using Syndication Server.

Syndication can also be performed with the help of Workflows. Consider the scenario where you want to create new record, perform some assignments and validations, approval process and finally records should get syndicated.

Workflow Design:

Start -> Process -> Assign -> Syndicate -> Stop

In this Syndicate step assign the port whose Processing Type = Manual. Now when this step has reached it mark the records for Syndication and Syndication server actually syndicate the records.

Syndication can be done in variuos ways:

1. Manual using Syndicator

2. Automatic using Syndication Server which keeps on syndicating depending upon port settings

3. Syndicating using Workflows i.e. using Syndicate step in workflows.
