va01 Line Item material Text to be made Read Only

Hi,

I have made a transaction varaint for VA01 to make the material description field read only.

I have made it read only in shd0.But when i run the Tcode Va01,it is not making the material line item description read only.

I am trying on ECC 6.0.

Can anybody try it out.

have you made the necessary assignments, such as assigning the variant to sales order types?
