Integration of PLCs with SAP AII

Hi all,

Does anybody know if it is possible to integrate PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) with SAP AII integrated with SAP R3?

Our idea is that we would like to control different PLC actions (for example: change the track of an object in an automatic chain) depending on an EPC (contained in the tag added to a finish product case or pallet) by a RFID device.

Thanks all in advance,

Xavier

AII does not support this, but a third party device management application (such as Acsis) could be integrated to accomplish your request.

Also, SAP's xMII (xApp for Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence) can provide this functionality.

As suggested by Rick, it is very much possible to enable communication between , say a SAP R/3 and the PLC through xMII. The flow would broadly be , SAP R/3 -> xMII system - > Third part system to communicate with PLC such as rockwell -> PLC.
