Hi Experts,

Could anyone help me out in understanding

1. what are reverse proxies?

2.when to use them and what are their merits and demerits

3.what are the steps in Xi to use and troubleshoot when we use revrse proxies.

Hi Sri

You can use Apache server for the reverse proxy implementation in your DMZ. This is open source easy to use and allow you to customize to a good extent

can portal proxy be used with XI ??

it's a proxy server usually installed in the outer DMZ (so close to the internet)

it routes all traffic (especiall web services ) to a proper web application server

security - you can block some traffic, you can descript messages (instead of doing that at the app server)

performance - you can do load distribution with that
