All,

1) What is the use of remote client copy? (As we use STMS for any changes to take place in the target client, why we need remote client copy?)

2) Similarly client export,import?

Remote client copy is a client copy to a different system... nothing more, nothing less

Similar.. but without creating a dump.

Hi Kelvin,

In remote client copy, you certainly do not import using STMS. that is the case with client transport where the transport generated is imported in the target system.

Using STMS only you cant do a client copy, can you? for you you need to use the client copy tools. either remote client copy or client transport, for copying client to different system. for copying client in same SAP system, you use local client copy.

Could you pls give me an example on what basis we do remote client copy and is client transport differ from STMS ( during implementation the change requests are released through se09/se10 and imported using STMS)

Hi Kevin,

Yes client EXPORT/IMPORT differ from STMS.Here you have to use t-code scc8 for export and scc7 for import of client.
