Issues on Backup incorrect format or option in .utl file (-p)

Hi Gurus,

Good day!

I'm having an error when running a backup. Please see an error below:

BR0278I Command output of 'backint -u XXX -f backup -i /oracle/XXX/saparch/.adzduisi.lst -t file -p /oracle/E1P/920_64/dbs/initXXX.utl -c':

*ERROR - Failed to get the policy method type: ABC_sap

ERROR: incorrect format or option in .utl file (-p)

But upon checking the method type ABC_sap it does exist in initXXX.utl file.

Please assist me on how to resolve this issue.

Appreciate your help!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Virgilio

Hi Virgilio,

Doesn't look like a standard SAP error.. were you able to perform backup successfully ever? or it's the first time after fresh installation..

What version of backint you're using..?

Please mention your system platform.

Regards,

Debasis.

Hello there,

I am having the same problem durnig the archive log backup;

ERROR: incorrect format or option in .utl file (-p)

I have even checked the backup policy and it is correct.

Is there any permanent solution instead of the one suggested by 'manu susankar' ?

Hi Virgilio Padios,

We got the same issue..... what we done is we renamed the old log file (/oracle/XXX/saparch/.adzduisi.lst ) and we rerun backup it got success. It again repeted with next run after successful backup. Every time we done the same, Not sure what's the root cause. Hope it helps you.

Regards,

S.Manu.

Hi

Please check if the specified policy in your .utl file is correct. Check the file initSID.utl
