Ken, if you look at the incoming links for the Sort/Filter action, you'll see FilterValue.1...FilterValue.4. You can use these to provide dynamic filter values.
A nice help for this (and applicable to most linking efforts in BLS) is to use the context and actually put in realistic placeholders in the configure dialog. This way when you go into the the link editor and expand your incoming links for the generic sort filter action the mouseover text for the properties that Rick mentions will show you the static values you entered in the configure dialog.
Sort of like built-in reminders of 'what' goes 'where' for the linking process.
