High Database Execution Time - SAP 6.20 - SAP DB u2013 LINUX SLES 9

Hi all,

we have problems concerning (relatively) high database execution times (SE30 analysis) concerning a:

- SAP Kernel 6.20 (SAP 4.7) Unicode system running on

- SAP DB Vers. 7.6.00 and

- Suse LINUX Enterprise Server (SLES) 9 (Linux Kernel Version 2.6.5-7.287.3).

As far as I know, SAP has only released the combination: SAP Ker. 6.20 - SAP DB 7.4.3 - LINUX SLES 8

May the problems result out of the "too high" LINUX version? Has someone made corresponding experiences for a 6.20 - SAP DB installation on LINUX SLES 9?

Thanks in advance.

Kernel 6.20 is LONG out of support (more than 3 years as of now), you should upgrade to kernel 6.40 (which is download compatible) - no further fixes will be developed for 6.20. See note 803429 - Desupport 6.20 kernel.

Is that your exact version? If yes, it's also very old.

We ran before our upgrade to ERP a 4.7 system with 1,6 TB successfully for years (on SLES 8 and later SLES 9 SP3).

Without knowing exactly, what your problem is (self written program, wrong index access etc.) it's impossible to help you.

Please give us more information about what your problem is. At best, create an SQL trace in ST05 and check the long running statement. If you can't see anything obvious, I'd open an OSS call, the support will help you to identify the problem.
