login to OS level as <SID>adm and check whether DB and R/3 is up.

ps -eaf | grep dw (to check R/3)

ps -eaf | grep ora (to check oracle database)

if no result mean DB / R3 is down, you have to start.

cheers,

Thanks for your response:

in fact i am working in tn 2 sites (in the client site and a remote site) when i am in the client's site the connexions are working fine, but not in the remote site.

we have the network of the client in the remote site.

i have added the the IP adress of the portal and of the R/3 system in the hosts file of my computer

i execute the firewall first before connextion (it's ok)

the portal is working fine but the R/3 connexion is not working (message: service sapdp58 timed out).

i have no access to the administration tools in my remote site then i want to try the command telnet + host + port to see if i have an error or not.

but witch port i have to use in this case to execute this command

best regards

The Gui port should be 32XX where XX is the system number.
