Hi,

I am getting alert message in alert inbox as well. and

i am trying to do sending email to specific user.

so i configured SAPConnect as below url;

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/af/73563c1e734f0fe10000000a114084/frameset.htm

i set by rz10

icm/server_port_2 PROT=SMTP,PORT=25000,TIMEOUT=180

and following scot.

and I defined SMTP Forwarding as XML by ALRTCATDEF,

but does not work for sending email. i did also input email address for receiver by su01.

what step am i missing? please guide me.

by ALRTCATDEF, if i choose internal processing, error was sent into alert inbox, but if i choose SMTP Forwarding as XML, not was sent into alert inbox and i am not getting email.

what i would like to do is that error message will be sent into both alert inbox and email addresss

thanks in advance

venjamin

For the settings in RZ10 ...i do not find the SAP Web application server profile . Will a simple profile creation of "SAP Web application server" with the help of Basis team , will help me . Or does it requires installation of some mail server of SAP with respect to which the profile needs to be created?

Hi Venjamin,

Just check if the configuration of your SCOT is doen fine.

To do this, use tcode SCOT and in the window that appears, check the details for SMTP.

If the mail is in waiting state, then the problem is beacuse of SCOT. If it says COMPLETED, then there is some problem in your configuration.

Do check this and let me know the staus and then maybe we can find the reason for your problem.

Also, check this thread raised by me.

Hi Venjamin,

There is also another check that has to be performed.

In ALERT INBOX, you will find a link called PERSONLIZATION.

Just go to this link and make sure you have selected the option,

TIME INDEPENDENT DELIVERY and also selected the option EMAIL.

This is for the case when you select INTERNAL PROCESSING and assign a email id under SU01.

Hi

in personalization,

1. uncheck Forward to Substitute

2. check radiobuttom Time-Independent Delivery

3. check Mail box under Time-Independent Delivery

these is my setting info.

one thing i found some error is;

Alert was generated in logical system XIDCLNT100

Alert is generated on the Central Alert Server

Alert category: ALERT_RWB

Expiry time: 16.02.2006 09:00:55

Recipient from alert category: XISUPER

Delivery by e-mail to XISUPER

External ID of alert: 00063

--red BCS exception (DNS_SREQ) occurred

Alert created. ID: DC0516DC048EDE45A623470B595803C7

Hi Venjamin,

From what your configuration looks like, I would recommend you to check the SCOT connections done by your BASIS team.

The SCOT tcode tells how many mails have been sent, how many are in the waiting state to be sent etc. If the mail is in waiting, then it means there is a problem in your SCOT.

If your SCOT connection would have been correct, then under SMTP in TCODE SCOT, you would have got an entry under either COMPLETED or TRANSIT.

So, just recheck your SCOT configuration.

Hi, additionally check your profile settings as explained in note 455140 and make sure that SMTP is active in transaction SMICM. For general purposes, note 552616 gives further insight in the customizing of SCOT. The other mentioned note, 455140 gives an overview of the parameter settings. These are important for the sending of mails through SAPConnect.

Hi Venjamin,

Also make sure that the sender and recipient user of the ALERT are not the same.

For more details on the problems that can arise due to the sender and recipient being the same user refer to this thread i raised a few days ago,
