Domain Name Change

Our IT department has a migration project that will require a domain

name change (hostname.domain_name.com) that will affect all of our SAP

systems.

How can we perform this task in an expeditious manner or what is the

Best Practice for this activity? What tools can be used to change the

domain name within SAP?

Make sure you

- check profile parameters if the contain the full domain name (such as e. g. icm/* parameters)

- change the name in the hosts file (depending on your OS)

- reboot the machines to reflect that

- reflect that in your IP configuration (on Unix e. g. /etc/resolv.conf)

As long as the hostname is not changed it´s not that much work.
