J2GPFI: A form is ok in spool but not when it is sent to the printer

Hi everyone!

We are printing FI documents using transaction J2GPFI. The corresponding form is a custom form. The form printing is left in the spool (SP01), and then sent manually to the printer.

The problem is that when we send the form to spool, everything is ok, but when we sent it from spool to the printer, one of the fields overwrite another one, that is, one is written over the other.

We have asked to the basis team in order to they can check the printer configuration, and they say that it is not a printer issue.

Do you have any explanation for this issue?

Thank you in advance.

Well, it can certainly be due to printer configuration in SAP. The reason it looks right in spool is that it uses a different device type than when it's sent to the actual printer. That printer has a driver and certain print control configuration, font settings etc. Depending on how those are set up and what print controls does the form use, the output can easily look different or even garbled when sent to the printer.

I'd suggest to check the print control settings for the device type that's assigned to that printer (transaction SPAD).
