CCMS agent registration on central system

Former Member

Gurus,

I am trying to start the CCMS agent in my Central Monitoring System. When I check RZ21 --> Topology --> Local Agents - I do not have anything defined. I tried to run sapccm4x for my abap central system so that it sees itself. However, I get an error :

ERROR: Monitoring segment belongs to central system SMG

CCMS Agent SAPCCM4X may only be run for remote segments

that do not belong to central system SMG

How do I get my local Central System seeing it's CCMS agent in RZ21? How do I start the local CCMS agent?

Thanks,

Jeff Martens

Aha, I didn't really get what you meant.

If you want to monitor your CEN, you need to install SAPCCMSR instead of SAPCCM4X

Nicolas,

In my Central System when I go to RZ21 ---> Topology --> Agents for Local System I do not see my local central system listed? I cannot configure via sapccm4x at O/S level. How to I register the local central system agent?

Thanks,

Jeff

When you do:

*On the monitoring system*
RZ21, Tab Topology: > Choose Agents for Remote Systems > Display Overview
Go to the tab CCMS Agents, and then to Agents for Remote SAP Systems

You should see your active agents. Do you see them?

Afterwards, you can assign auto-reactions to these agents with tx RZ21

Menu: Technical infrastructure > Configure Central System > Assign Central Autoreactions

Hi,

To install SAPCCM4X

Prerequisites:

1. The csmconf file is available in /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSnn/log/sapccm4x

2. There's an up to date version of SAPCCM4X in /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSnn/exe

Procedure:

In command window:

- cd /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSnn/exe

- SAPCCM4X -r pf=<drive>\usr\sap\<sid>\sys\profile\<sid>_DVEBMGS<nn>_<server>

--> all default settings should be ok, as the csmconf file comes from SOL. Only CSMREG & CSMADM password need to be entered.

Afterwards, check if there's a service sapccm4x.<sys. no.> running

Other functionalities (start/stop/deregister/...) of the CCMS Agent, can be found in SAP Help:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/8b/f64352e1bfbd4eb43e432860504a1c/content.htm

On the monitoring system

RZ21, Tab Topology: > Choose Agents for Remote Systems > Display Overview

Go to the tab CCMS Agents, and then to Agents for Remote SAP Systems

Your system should be visible here. If not, try to unregister your agent on the monitored system, and register it again.

Nicolas,

Thanks for your reply.

I have done that procedure for my client systems. Now I am trying to start CCMS agent on my Central Monitoring System. Do you know the procedure for this?

Thanks,

Jeff
