WBS element xyz version RELEASED already exists

After release of WBS element "xyz", system allow to change the WBS code e.g. "xyz1". Now the error comes when again i change the WBS code to initial Codes i.e. "xyz". The system prompt the following message.

WBS element xyz version RELEASED already exists

Message no. CJ026

Diagnosis

A WBS element with the name RWERE2 already exists in version RELEASED.

System Response

Processing stopped.

Procedure

Enter another name for the WBS element.

I want the system to allow to change the wbs code to initial status. Can any solve it....

this is because you are using poject versions and a version of xyz already exists hence you cannot change it - this is standard SAP

read OSS note 160884 and the related notes

the steps would be to remove the version configuration

then delete all existing versions

note for status dependent versions you may have to read the notes in details

Hi,

It looks like, your system customization triggers ceration of a version when system status 'REL' is set. You can see customization settings using Txn:OPTS.

For the existing case you can hardly do anything.

If you do not want a version to be created woth status 'REL', you need to change the settings using OPTS,
