We know that the route determination depends on the
SHipping country , Departure country ,Shipping condition and transporation group.
Pleae explain how important this can be for India operations.
As the departue and the destination country is the same.
How is it beneficial for the business of a Company?
I understand the weight groups can be used for the different modes of transport
Please expalin the Value for Route in SAP SD
regards,
A S
Hi
It is not Departure country exactly, infact it is "Depature zone" of the Shipping point.
In Enterprise structure > Definition > LE > Shipping point, go to your Shipping point and go for the deatils, you will find the "Departure zone" there.
Infact this the start point.
Any Route has a "Start point " (which is the Departure zone) as well as an "End point" ( which is the Transportation zone ).
So the Transportation zone of the Ship-to-party is the End point.
Transportation zone is taken from the Customer master of SH, from the General data .
It may be any country, may be within the country or to outside country, a Route will have a Start point(Departure zone and not departure country) and an End point (Transportation zone and not destination country)

Apart from what has been suggested here, if you want the system to calculate shipment cost automatically based on routes, you must have Route determination.

Hi,
In addition to Pradumna, I can say that it doesn't matter if the sales in happening within same country or out of country... If transportation module {shipment functionality} is implemented then Route is a MUST...
Apart from that it would help you in your delivery scheduling and availability check... reason being the transportation lead time & transit times you maintain in Route customization... which are in turn used while ava. check
Hope this explaination can make some sense for your query.
