Hi - I would like to know what steps need to be taken to activate solution manager.

Does the transaction simply need to be added in the role?

the issues\messages tab is now greyed in SOLAR02.

Is it just a matter of getting the right accesses ?

Hi Nadine-

Try the following, in order

1.) Go to SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN for the project which you are trying to see the Issues tab. Open up the Project Standards Tab and then the Tabs tab. Check the Visibility for your Issues Tab.

2.) If the Tab turns out to be visible: Enter Solar02 and then run transaction SU53 (if you dont have access have your basis / security guy give it to you). SU53 will show you if any authorizations are missing

3.) If the authorization check is showing successful you will need to run an ST01 trace to determine if any auth objects are missing that the SU53 didnt pick up. Again, do this under your user ID and have your basis / security guy or girl help.
