PI 7.1 SLD compability

Hi all,

I am thinking in install PI7.1 using it as a central SLD (the SLD will be in a standalone system). I will be installing BI 7.0 and EP 7.0 pointing to this central SLD and I would like to know if there is any incompatibility using the SLD from PI 7.1 with the other applications.

From the SOA 213 presentation at teched berlin, there are 2 options you can use for SLD when installing PI 7.1

Upgrade to PI 7.1 and use Central SLD 7.0 :

PI 7.1 can run as client application against an SLD 7.0(SAP Note 954820)

Apply SAP Note 939592 u201CPI Usage Configuration versus Central SLDu201Cto setup the PI 7.1 system against a central SLD 7.0.

Or,

Upgrade to PI 7.1 and use of SLD included in PI 7.1 system:

Profit from enhanced functions and improved performance of SLD 7.1

If you have another SLD 7.0 not running on your PI systems already in operation, run two SLD versions in parallel:

SLD 7.1 for your PI systems / SLD 7.0 for other systems/use cases

My understanding was right, you cannot connect 7.0 systems to a 7.1 SLD.

If I remember right from the teched presentation I attended; PI 7.1 can talk to a 7.0 SLD but the vice versa is not possible.

Will try to pull up the presentation tomorrow to confirm this understanding.
