PI 7.1 Upgrade Mount Point

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi.

Im upgrading a 7.0 PI system to 7.1, and all was going well until the system asked about the mount points.

I have tried everything - the cds, the downloaded product.

Nothing seems to recognise the 'SAP Kernel DVD Unicode' folders /cds.

Its able to find the MID.xml file ok, but doesnt seem to recognise the mount point as a whole.

Is there anything I can check to make sure that I have the right version?

Andy

Andrew,

Were you able to make it work?

Thanks

Hi.

As it turns out, my SAP PI version was at a SP level that was not supported to upgrade to 7.1

Therefore i had no choice but to install a new 7.1 instance.

The patch will be out mid-December to allow the upgrade from this SP level.

I assume this is where you other guys are having problems.....

Thank Andy.

I am at PI 7 Stack 15. What was your stack level when you had tried to upgrade? Is the announcement of release in mid december in a note or was it a SAP reply.

I appreciate your help. I have opened a message with SAP and they keep insisting I am downloading the wrong DVD, when I have given the material number, the directory structure etc. Very frustrating.

Thanks

Hello,

You could download all Kernel 7.10 and extract it in the same directory. Then provide this directory as the moint point. It will work.

We encountered this problem and it took us more than 2 weeks to solve it.

Olivier,

Thanks for the response.

Did you mean you extracted all your OS related kernel DVDs from the download list and put them in a single folder. Say in my case with OS SOLARIS_SPARC I download the followng:

51033245_1 NW 7.1 UC-Kernel 7.10 Solaris on SPARC 64bit Upgrade

51033245_2 NW 7.1 UC-Kernel 7.10 Solaris on SPARC 64bit

51033245_5 NW 7.1 Kernel 7.10 Solaris on SPARC 64bit Upgrade

51033245_8 NW 7.1 Kernel 7.10 Solaris on SPARC 64bit

Extract it in a sigle folder say /SAPCD/UCK

Give the mount point as /SAPCD/UCK/*

I tried this and it does'nt work. Or did you mean extract all Kernel DVDs regardless of OS and put them in a single folder. Maybe SAP did not name the DVDs right.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

Your Kernel moint point should look like the following. You should put all KN_* KU_* folder in the same folder. Then SAPUP will be able to recognize all paths in the moint point.

CDLABEL.ASC

KN_LINUX_X86_64

KN_WINDOWS_IA64_AUPG

KU_WINDOWS_I

KU_WINDOWS_X86_64

README.TXT

CDLABEL.EBC

KN_LINUX_X86_64_AUPG

KN_WINDOWS_X86_64

KU_WINDOWS_I386

KU_WINDOWS_X86_64_AUPG

SHAFILE.DAT

COPY_TM.HTM

KN_WINDOWS_I386

KN_WINDOWS_X86_64_AUPG

KU_WINDOWS_I386_AUPG LABEL.ASC

VERSION.ASC

COPY_TM.TXT

KN_WINDOWS_I386_AUPG

KU_LINUX_X86_64

KU_WINDOWS_IA64

LABEL.EBC

VERSION.EBC

CRCFILE.DAT

KN_WINDOWS_IA64

KU_LINUX_X86_64_AUPG

KU_WINDOWS_IA64_AUPG LABELIDX.ASC

Olivier,

The directory structure for SOLARIS Kernel is different:

____________

+*510332451 NW 7.1 UC-Kernel 7.10 Solaris on SPARC 64bit Upgrade*+_

/sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS:

CDLABEL.ASC COPY_TM.HTM DATA_UNITS LABEL.EBC MID.XML VERSION.ASC

CDLABEL.EBC COPY_TM.TXT LABEL.ASC LABELIDX.ASC SHAFILE.DAT VERSION.EBC

/sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS/DATA_UNITS:

K_710_UV_SOLARIS_SPARC LABELIDX.ASC

_____________________________

+*510332452 NW 7.1 UC-Kernel 7.10 Solaris on SPARC 64bit*+_

/sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS:

CDLABEL.ASC COPY_TM.HTM DATA_UNITS LABEL.EBC MID.XML VERSION.ASC

CDLABEL.EBC COPY_TM.TXT LABEL.ASC LABELIDX.ASC SHAFILE.DAT VERSION.EBC

/sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS/DATA_UNITS:

K_710_UI_SOLARIS_SPARC LABELIDX.ASC

_________________________________________________

+*510332455 NW 7.1 Kernel 7.10 Solaris on SPARC 64bit Upgrade*+_

/sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS:

CDLABEL.ASC COPY_TM.HTM DATA_UNITS LABEL.EBC MID.XML VERSION.ASC

CDLABEL.EBC COPY_TM.TXT LABEL.ASC LABELIDX.ASC SHAFILE.DAT VERSION.EBC

/sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS/DATA_UNITS:

K_710_NV_SOLARIS_SPARC LABELIDX.ASC

_____________________________________________________

+*510332458 NW 7.1 Kernel 7.10 Solaris on SPARC 64bit*+_

/sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS:

CDLABEL.ASC COPY_TM.HTM DATA_UNITS LABEL.EBC MID.XML VERSION.ASC

CDLABEL.EBC COPY_TM.TXT LABEL.ASC LABELIDX.ASC SHAFILE.DAT VERSION.EBC

/sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS/DATA_UNITS:

K_710_NI_SOLARIS_SPARC LABELIDX.ASC

___________________________________________________________________________

With the above files what do you think a main directory /sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UCK shoud like.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks

Hello,

Try to put all K_710_SOLARISSPARC below in the folder /sapcd/XI_UPGRADE_PI71/UK/NW_7.1_Kernel_SOLARIS/DATA_UNITS.

K_710_NI_SOLARIS_SPARC

K_710_UI_SOLARIS_SPARC

K_710_NV_SOLARIS_SPARC

K_710_UV_SOLARIS_SPARC

It should work.
