kernal patches not updated

I updated latest kernal patches in my system but it is not showing latest kernal patch no. What is the problem.

I downlaoded letest patches : SAPEXE_175-20000972.SAR,SAPEXEDB_175-20000974.SAR ,

I was stopped all instances

I took run folder backup

uncar above 2 files

I gave the follwing command.

SAPQUA:eqaadm> cp -pr /usr/sap/EQA/SYS/newker/. /usr/sap/EQA/SYS/exe

Please help me

The target directory is wrong.

copy to

/usr/sap/EQA/exe

or

/usr/sap/EQA/SYS/exe/run

What´s the content of the sapcpe.log directory? Has this file the date of the restart of the instance after you patched the kernel?

now can you check command 'disp+work -V |more' and check whether the new kernel applied or not.

Try the following:

- login as root

- cd /usr/sap/EQA/exe

- chown -f eqaadm:sapsys *

- login as eqaadm

- cp -r /usr/sap/EQA/SYS/newker/. /usr/sap/EQA/SYS/exe (omit the "p")

- su root

- cd /usr/sap/EQA/SYS/exe

- ./saproot.sh EQA

Then start your system.

Permissions on your files are wrong, thus eqaadm can´t overwrite the files.

you update kernel patch on which one ? should be

/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run.

Maybe you can please try to rename the directory

/usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS00/exe to something else or update it with

the latest kernel?

Directory Also you can re-apply the kernel patch to

/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run and make

sure that /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS00/exe gets renamed or gets

updated.

If this is ok please try.

Use under AIX if necessarily the system command /usr/sbin/slibclean

(as roots) around old versions of the Shared LIBRARIES from main storage to remove (see also note 162843

If issue persists.

Please zip and attach dev_disp, dev_w*, dev_ms, dev_rd

the stderr files and sapstart.log to this message.

the problem is <SID>adm dont have permission to write file under /usr/sap/EQA/DVEBMGS00/exe/jkit/jre/lib/zi/SystemV/

give the same permission to SystemV directory as -rwxrw-rw-

run the command as root (chmod -R 766 SystemV)

did you executed the command from the directory or directly /usr/sap/EQA/SYS/exe/run/disp+work -V|more

if you go to the directory /usr/sap/EQA/SYS/exe/run and then execute disp+work |more then it wont take local file, this will take the file from your environment settings.

stop DB and R/3 including saposcol.

Take backup of current kernel directory-:

check whether you have sufficient free space under /sapmnt/EQA

login eqaadm

1) cd /sapmnt/EQA

2) cp -Rp EQA EQA_backup

3) Download latest kernel from service maket place put it in directory latest_kernel

create a directory

mkdir /sapmnt/EQA/latest_kernel

download and then copy your new kernel SAPEXE_* and SAPDB_* to above directory.

cd /sapmnt/EQA/latest_kernel

chmod 777 *

4) Upgrade the kernel using following commands

cd /sapmnt/EQA/latest_kernel

execute following command

/sapmnt/EQA/EQA_backup/SAPCAR -xvf SAPEXE_* -R /sapmnt/EQA/exe

/sapmnt/EQA/EQA_backup/SAPCAR -xvf SAPDB_* -R /sapmnt/EQA/exe

5) go to /sapmnt/EQA/exe

execute ./saproot.sh

start database and check

R3trans -d

if the output is 0000 then start SAP

check the permission for saposcol it should be

you can run saproot.sh <SID> using root user this will solve your problem or else set sticky bit permission for saposcol.

File icmbnd has root owner.

login as root and then change the file permission to <SID>adm for the list of files you are getting error.

the owner for saposcol has to be root no need to change to <SID>adm. you can set sticky bit using command:

chmod 4775 saposcol
