Different SP Levels (SQL 2000) in the same SAP Landscape

Dear All,

We have recently upgraded our DEV Server from SQL 2000 SP3 => SP4, but the

QAS and PRD still remain to be in the same SQL 2000 SP3 only.

As I know the SAP system is independent, but just to confirm I have raised this question.

Basically, I would like to know, whether there will be any problem in the Basic Operations

like transport etc between DEV and QAS/PRD.

If you foresee/experienced any problems, please let me know.

Thanks in Advance

Best Regards,

L Raghunahth

Transports are database and OS independent - so you could even transport technically from Windows with SQL Server to HP-UX with Oracle.

To answer your question: No - you won't get any problems when transporting.

I would highly recommend keeping all systems at the same SP level. The code in transports may be DB release independent, but your kernel is not.

Is there a reason to keep the QAS and PRD databases at a lower SP level, or are you just testing the SP update in DEV first, then waiting to apply to QA dn PRD after a period of time?

Hi,

Sorry for replying it very late.

(But I am doing so that it will remain as a good reference for others who have similar problems)

Yes, actually we completed the SP Upgrade in DEV Server. But once it is found OK, then we are planning to upgrade in QAS and then PRD.

So it may some time. Hence I had raised this question.

Thank you all of you, for your time and very useful inputs.
