Restart an ABAP system

Dear all,

I want to restart my ABAP system (ECC6) via SAPGUI. I tried TCode RZ03 but it gives me only options "Start SAP instance" and "Stop SAP instance". If clicking "Stop SAP instance", then SAP system will be stopped, I don't know how to start it later (except using SAP MMC or OS command "startsap").

Regards,

Toan Do

Hi,

This is NOT possible.

If SAP software is stopped, the sapgui is disconnected and therefore cannot be used to restart the system !

Yes,

That's why I'm looking for a workaround to restart ABAP system via SAPGUI interface. Just select restart, be logged off from SAPGUI, but later then be able to relogon.

Hi,

But as I told you, your are looking for something which does not exist !

You can imagine some specific solutions : for example, launch a stop/restart script from sm49.

Hi Toan Do,

If you select a particular instance, and then select stop instance, only that particular instance should be stopped. If you're logged on to a different application server then GUI logout shouldn't occur.

But if you've only one instance, then there is no way to start an instance from RZ03.
