WE have a Planning book with key figure Opening inventory. This dats is pulled from step in job run from inofcube DC_INV. Data is seen in infocube content, but he key figure is not getting populated also the cell is shown open for editing.(is this reason for data not seen) or do I need to check any other settings.
Job has run succesully but data not seen.
Please check in the /SAPAPO/TSCUBE - Load Data from InfoCube you have mapped keyfigure and characterstic .
Click on Keyfigure and map your Infocube Keyfigure and PA keyfigure .
Also check active check box.
Also check characterstic assignement.
Also while running this job , make sure nobody is locking that keyfigure in Planning book.

Yes I checked all these and everything looks to be fine. I ran the job individually and checked the spool file which says "It says no data exists for selection made, character assignment no data found with yellow triangle." also as mentioned this cell are open for editing, which I presume should not be as they are not entered manually. Do you think this has any effect on copying data to the cell.
You should get message like below.
Key figure copy: InfoCube - planning area (DP) 07/01/2005 to 09/30/20
Copy successful.
Hope you have create CVC for your planning keyfigure by /SAPAPO/MC62.
CVC only hold data .
Also check your data in LISTCUBE .
"also as mentioned this cell are open for editing, which I presume should not be as they are not entered manually. Do you think this has any effect on copying data to the cell"
This is how you design your planning book , it should not impact .you can change it in SDP94 , click ond esign than right click on your keyfigure than properties than change Row status to output only, if you want not to enter it manaully in planning book.
Hope it will help you .
