Gurus ,
we have added an entry in the file host files of the server , but still that value was not displayed in the host name buffer .
hence we reset the 'HOST NAME BUFFER ' by choocing the menu GOTO->HOST NAME BUFFER ->RESET .
But now to how to make ICM to again read from the file system .
please help to resolve this issue .
your help is highly appreciated
Hi Susin,
The ICM sets the FQHN using the following steps in this order. If you set the FQHN in the hosts file it is the last parmeter to be checked so update the following parameters in RZ10 and they will be present after a restart.
The ICM sets the FQHN using the following hierarchy.
1. The parameter SAPLOCALHOSTFULL in the SAP profile (recommended for high availability configurations) has the highest priority. If it is set in a profile file, the ICM uses this value as the FQHN.
Note: the system default value of SAPLOCALHOSTFULL contains the host name without domain, so the system default is ignored by the ICM.
2. If the parameter is not set, icm/host_name_full is analyzed.
3. If this parameter is not set either, the ICM uses the FQHN of the operating system. For this reason, check the settings of the hosts file at the operating system level.
Hope this helps
Michael

actually we need to add the IP of the exchange server in the host file for mail configuration .
we have done that but still we could not able to send mails .
In GOTO->HOST NAME BUFFER ->DISPLAY of TC:SMICM,
i could not see the value of exchange server IP .
so I reset the host name buffer , but still the value is not getting reflected .
are u aware from where does this HOST NAME BUFFER reads values ?
