can u explain the purpose of FILE TO IDOC ,IDOC TO FILE scenario.

File to IDOC and IDOC to file scenarion used when you are having SAP R/3 system and your business partners do not have R3 and have some legacy system like file server.

Hi

File to Idoc scenario is used when u want to send data from an legacy system to SAP R/3

and Idoc to file is used when u require to send data from R/3 system to any legacy system or application.

File 2 IDOC and IDOC 2 File is used when

SAP system communicate to Non SAP system e.g. file server etc.

1) IDOC 2 FILE - u send idocs data e.g. orders,orderchg to receiver non sap system.

2) FILE 2 IDOC - u receive acknowledgement frm sender non sap system.

Sending a purchase order from SAP using ORDERS IDOC to customer in file format that will be ur IDOC to File scenario.

Receving the Order acknowledgement from customer to SAP system that will be ur File to IDOC scenario.

like wise u may have many business cases with different IDOC.
