On MM41 initial screen, to maintain purchasing information of an article, we have to fill in one vendor.

Now, if we have more than one vendor supplying the same article how we configure it.

2) What does "Area of Validity" represents on Sales tab. If we want to sale an article at both retail and wholesale level ( different distribution chains) what configuration we are supposed to do ?

Regards,

Vikky

Hello,

You can create Purchase view for any number of Vendors using MM42 after the article has been created using MM41. In MM42, enter Purchase Org & Venodr Number and goto the Purchasing view to maintain rest of the information.

In order to maintain Sales at Retail level and Whole sale level, it is better to maintain separate Distribution Channels under same (or different) Sales organization. In SPRO, maintain the Distribution channel and carry out assignment to Sales Organization and Division. You need to attach these Distribution Chains to Site in WB02.

Thanks,

Venu

Yes thats right, maintaining purchasing data or also known as Inforecord you have to fill in the vendor and a purchasing organization and jump on the purchasing view.

Here you are also able to switch to another vendor by pressing the button 'Area of validity'. This button works also in MM42 (maintaining article data) and MM43 (display)

Please be aware that article master work different than the Material master (MM01)

MM41 will be used only once for a fresh absolutly new article. Adding new data or changing article data will be done via MM42.

With the button 'Area of validity' you can change the sales view to another distribution chain. It depends on your settings in customizing which distribution chains are available. So define 2-3 distribution chainsin customizing. But limit the overall number. 20 distribution chains never makes sense.

Now a hint: Define a merchandise reference article and maintain ALL sales views for all distriubution chains.

As soon as you create a fresh article for thsi merchandise category, the reference article will be used as template. So just go to sales view and all data are maintained already by template from reference article. Now alter the area of validity and select another sales org and distribution chain and again the template from the reference article will propose all the fields.

As result you will have as many MVKE entries in database as you have selected. Please remark, that the template reference article will NOT automatically maintain the sales data, You have to jump at least at the sales view and in the wished distribution chain.
