Scanning documents to DMS

Hi gents (and if applicable, the occasional lady)

We are working on implementing a new site in our SAP landscape where we have a requirement to scan documents into DMS.

The documents we need to scan is the certificates etc received at goods receipt. We intend to print out a barcode sheet for each delivery and put it together with the paperwork that came with the goods.

When the paperwork is later scanned, we are going to use the barcoded sheet as a separation page. The documents behind each separation page will be used to create a DMS record. From the goods receipt we should be able get the correct material and if relevant - batch or serial number.

Straight to the point:

So far we have two possible scenarios. THe first scenario is based on the standard certified software for the scenario late archiving. We would then need to take the guid passed into the archive link table and recreate the necessary Kpro data - anyone done this before?

THe other alternative - have the supplier call the webservice "create document". Has anyone used that one or created their own?

Feedback on any is very appreciated. Points will be given.

Regards,

Espen Leknes

Espen:

See my response to your earlier post on user adoption.

We have installed the Easy DMS client on user's computers.

While the following approach is not officially supported functionality, it does seem to work.

Easy DMS sits in windows explorer like a mapped drive. User scans document and saves it to the Easy DMS drive and designated DMS folder directly from the scanning software. We are using Cannon small footprint scanners with auto page feed and Capture Perfect scanning software installed locally.

As the save process begins the user is presented with the Easy DMS SAP properties page for the document and the user completes the required document metadata - doc type, object links, characteristics, etc.

It might be worth a look.

You can download Easy DMS from the Service Martketplace. - Downloads > supplementary cross application components.
