Hello Experts,
Now, I would like to know whether Dev Trace (dev_disp,dev_dispatcher etc).
System is 46C / AIX.
We have executed daily restart due to backup.
As some troubles were occurred on Friday midnight, we can't obtain trace on Monday.
I am also entertaining about Folder(work) backup by scripts.
But if I can do it by R/3 Settings, I would like to select it.
Thank you in advance,
Best Regards,
Toshi
Hi Toshi,
You can set rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING to switch on the trace logging, which means after a certain size dev_disp is logged into dev_disp.old. but after the next reset the current one becomes dev_disp.old and the last dev_disp.old will be deleted. you can set a size according to your requirement and depending on the size on disk you can spend for this.
Trace logging (rdisp/TRACE_LOGGING) is used for the work process, dispatcher, and gateway traces.

Hi Debasis,
Thank you for your advice.
But unfortunately, I'm sure that your advice doesn't match my need.
Although parameter:rdisp/TRACE_LOGGIN can control just trace size,
I would like to create trace more than 2 generate.
ex) dev.disp, dev_disp_old1, dev_disp_old2
I know dev_disp&dev_disp.old are created automatically,
becase it is SAP Standard.
Thanks.
BR
Toshi
Hi Toshi,
I think this is not there in the kernel functionality as of now, as the trace files are only used to troubleshoot some error. and incase of any error that needs troubleshooting can be done with current dev_disp and only one .old trace file.
As per SAP Note 787695
"During reset, the file dev_disp will be renamed into dev_disp.old. If the dev_disp.old already exists, it has to be deleted"
Regards,
Debasis.
