Hello all,
I am doing a File to Idoc Scenario. I have done almost all the configutations and now a bit confused about the partner profiles. What are they for and where they are used? Should I create the partner profiles both for the sender (third party) and the receiver systems (ECC) on the receiver system (ECC)? or Should I create just for the Sender system?
Please help.
Thank you.
Ramesh.
What are they for and where they are used?
- It will let the system know what IDocs are you sending or receiving from your partner.
Should I create the partner profiles both for the sender (third party) and the receiver systems (ECC) on the receiver system (ECC)? or Should I create just for the Sender system?
- You need to create partner profile in the receiver system (for the sender system as mention the INBOUND params) for the IDOC that will be received

Hi,
In your scenario you need to create the Partner profile in ECC system at receiver system.
The partner profiles are created in the R/3 systems not in third party system, whethe it is sender or receiver..
After reaching the IDocs into the ECC system, based on Partner profile setting the IDoc will process.
In Partner profile mention the Idoc type and process code of the particular IDoc.

Ramesh,
Partner profile is created only in receiver(ECC) and sender system(ECC). You do not need to create them on XI/PI system.
Partner profile determines the receiver and sender information.
In your case scenario is File --> Idoc, hence you do not need to create Partner profile on sender system. However you need to create Inbound partner profile on receiver system(ECC) for posting idoc successfully in ECC.
Hope this will help.

Hi
1. You must have a partner profile to communicate with a partner using the IDOC interface. This will provide the parameters for electronic interchange of data with Trading partner in SAP
2. Partner profile should be created at receiver system for sender system to receive the IDOC this is called Outbound partner profle

3. You can send partner profiles to the receiving systems if you are sending IDOC
