Authorization Group usage in the material master and SD pricing maintenance

My customer has made a request that they would like to restrict price maintenance in transactions VK11 & VK12 (or other price maintenance transactions) for certain materials. They do not want the user to see or be able to maintain prices for those materials. I had hoped that the authorization group in the material master would provide a solution. I have been told by the security consultant onsite that it will not. Has anybody out there encountered this type of customer request? Are there any other possible approaches I could try?

hello.

this is possible if you can group these materials into certain divisions. authorizations for SD users can be limited on the basis of sales areas, and condition records for any material with division/s not falling within a user's authorization will not be 'maintainable'.
