Characters wrongly interpreted

Dear All,

Can anyone tell me why does SAP interprets certain characters incorrectly.

It is because of codepage is not present on my system.

The problem is-

When I upload the text ("C 68, Sector u201CMu201D") to aplication server the double quotes enclosing M within string gets converted to unusual characters.

Original text: "C 68, Sector u201CMu201D"

In ECC 6.0

Double quotes gets converted to (âu20ACu0153)

"C 68, Sector âu20ACu0153Mâu20AC#"

while in SAP R/3 4.7

double quotes are converted to (â##)

"C 68, Sector â##Mâ##"

Also, in SAP R/3 4.7 in one scenario is converted to (â##).

Thank You,

Regards,

Rupesh

HI

This would relate to the interpretation of special characters ( like '/' ) in SAP that may have different functionalities as text or logical operation.
