Hello friends,
While configuring Cr Mgnt, can we avoid OB38 & instead do OVFL?
Thanks in adv.
Hi,
It's depend on client if there is credit mgmt is handling centrally then we should go through OB38 else OVFL..
OB38 - In centrally managed customer credit consider on sum up of all sales org. available in company code.
OVFL - In this customer credit consider at particular sales org. level.

Hi
It is possible to assign a credit control area to a salwes area
This is more specific assignment than the assignment to company code
But the general practise is assignment to a company code
If you assign it to a sales area then you want to apply C.M to customer 7000053 who lies in sales areas 0003,04.21 and 0003,04,22
If you assign only one sales area say 0003,04.21 in OVFL then if the customer order is registered thro 0003,04,22 then that order will not pass thro credit check
If company code means it takes care of all the customers who falls on this company code
Even though OVFL i specific assignment to a company code in OB38 has better control

It is scenario dependend and based on at waht level the credit limit is to be controlled. OB38 - Centrally and OVFL - based on Sales Organization.

Hi,
The help text from OB38 itself is self-explainatory as below :
Credit control area
The credit control area is an organizational entity which grants and monitors a credit limit for customers. A credit control area can include one or more company codes.
You can also enter the credit control area separately for each posting, if this was marked in the appropriate company code.
When entering an order, the credit control area can also be determined from the business area and the sales area segement of the payer's master record or using a user exit.
It follows that company codes and credit control areas are not linked.
The only thing that you define in the company code table is the default credit control area. This is used either for payments on account to credit these payments, or where you did not enter a credit control area or the system could not determine one.
There is also an allocation table of permitted credit control areas per company code which is used to check entries only.
So, you can avoid credit control assignment to company code and do the same in OVFL.
