Use brbackup -i to format the tapes and initialized all the tape in the tape library before taking the backup

Hi,
just i will suggest to shutdown the database and then startup wiht moount option....there you have to open the database with command alter database open resetlogs.
then automatically it will set to archivelog mode.
And please note this command toinitialize a media:
brbackup -i force -v scratch (tape lable option) or
brbackup -i force -v scratch

Hi rahul,
Has the 1st prob got solved.that is unable to initialize the aspi manager.?
solution to the 2nd problem is--ur DB is in the noarchive mode.
change it to archive mode using brtools.but stop sap..but DB should be up(open state).then try ur back up.online back up will check ur db is in archive mode or no archive mode..if no archive then it wont allow to take backup.
pls tell me what u did for the 1st prob..since we also faced the same..
