account group

Hi,

Once a customer is created can we change the account group.

Sold to party,Ship to party ,Payer ,Bill to Party are mandatory functions.what do u mean by this.

As far as i know Partner functions are assigned to Account Group and when we create a customer we assign the Account Group. So whatever partner functions the Account Group will have the customer can have those partner functions only.In case if it contains only for Payer then customer can act only as Payer.

Then how Sold to party,Ship to party ,Payer ,Bill to Party can be mandatory functions.

When we create customer under PARTNER tab we assign the partner functions. Here we can assign other customers also who can become business partners for the customer created.am i right.

regards,

Smita

Hi Smitha,

I will try to clear your doubt.

Whenever a Customer is created, it is created under certain Account Group, which is mandatory. That means without Account group you can not create a Customer.

Changing Account group

Once the Customer is created, you can not change the Account group of all type of Customer.

For example, a Customer who has been created under account group "BP",you can not change his account group to "Sold-to-party",but the reverse can be possible.

When you want to change the permissible Account group, you have to use t.code VD07.

Mandatory partner functions

Sales process is initiated by a Sold-to-party (if no pre-sales step).

To complete the sales process, you need to have a SH (who will receive the goods),a BP (who will receive the Bill) and a PY(who will pay).

In the absence of EVEN ONE of these Partner functions(SP,SH,BP,PY), you can not complete a sales process, that is why they are called "Mandatory Partner functions".

It is possible that, all these four functions can be performed by one person (e.g in a small shop) or four different persons can perform these four functions( in corporate customers ).

But function wise we need all these four otherwise we can not complete a sales process.

Assigning partner functions

You are right, we assign partner functions to Account group and when we create the customer, only those Partner functions will feature.

When we create a SP, we need to fill up who will work as a SH,BP,PY for him, but when create a customer master for customer who is exclusively a "Payer", we do not require to fill up all those data (you will find the"Partner function"tab as hidden).

The customer must exist/created first (suppose a Payer Z ), then you can assign this Payer to some appropriate Sold-to-party ( X) in the "Partner function" tab in sales area data.

So now, Z will work as a Payer for X.

I hope, it is clear. If you require more informations then let me know.

Hi Smita,

Account group will control the functionality, that is true. As concerned Sold to party,Ship to party ,Payer ,Bill to Party being mandatory, it is mandatory in the case of sold to party and also in Sales Order. if account group is selected as Sold to party, it will by default also take the functionality of Ship to party, Bill to party and Payer. Similarly if we create customer in Account group Payer, it will not create other Partner by default and it is not a requirement there.

Account group will control the functionality.

Hi

Account group can be changed for a customer thro T CODE XD07

Mandatory partner functions means, these partner functions are must when you create customer in that account group

Normally for a sales order or when you create a customer SP,SH,BP and PY these are must or for any business transactions these are needed leave alone SAP think logically

For the account group PY (payer) only BP and contact person are the partner functions defined in std SAP and these are also not defined as mandatory

Only for SP Account group ,we have SP,SH,BP,PY defined as mandatory and SP is not modifiable means you cant change SP there

Account group controls field selection means a CMR created in Account group 0002 that is SH Need not have info abt billing details and terms of payment hence those fields can be hided in XD01

Changing the Account group can be done thro XD07 but i have not practised that

So i dont know abt its implications

One more point partner functions are assigned to Account group

*Customer is not assigned to account group*

Customer is created in account group

_*Means CMR is controlled by account group

without mentioning account group you cant do anything in XD01_*
