Hi,
I installed SneakPrevuew SR1 on a linux machine.
But when I try to install SP4, installation says that the current version of SDM is newer than the one it tries to install:
MUT-01014 Call of SDM API autoupdate ends with error code 4. Log file /tmp/sapinst_instdir/SDMautoupdate.log, log file content: \n SpecVersion of new SDM is older than installed SDM:/usr/sap/J2E/JC00/SDM/program
Processing error. Return code: 4
Hi Vasil,
Please check SAP Note 873769.

Hi,
but to install any SP higher than SP4, you have to install first SP4. I read this somewhere ...

Hi,
SP4 is a prerequisite in case you want to <b>upgrade</b> an <b>existing system</b> to SR1. For example, you have installed SP2 and want to upgrate to SR1 -> then the upgrade path would be SP2 -> SP4, and then SP4 -> SR1.
However, for a "fresh" install as in your case, there's no such prerequisite.
So, if you're successful with the SR1 installation, you can start using it right away.
Hi Vasil,
considering that SR1 is actually SP9 of NW, then installing SP4 after that means practically "downgrading" to SP4 - does not make much sense, right. And that's what the error message is trying to say.
