Hi All,
We are implementing KM for various groups in our company and the project requires storing different documents in different folders (repositories)
For storing the documents in KM, what is the best approach? Is it recommeded to use location at root/Documents or is it a good approach to create a new repository and use the new folder under root?
Similarly can you suggest me the correct appproach for discussions group? can I use the standard root/discussion folder or is it better to create a new repository for discussions?
At a later stage we will be implementing trex
pelase advice
thanks

Hi,
One reason not to use the default /documents repository is that its located in the DB so all documents large and small will be uploaded into the DB. So you must realise that your DB will grow faster. In addition the Server needs to do DB queries for the docs that are requested and have to stream it out of the DB and on storing it has to stream it into the DB (blob's).
For that reason we implemented seperate repositories. We did the segmentation based portal initiatives. Meaning that all portal initiatives have there own repository. We chose CM repository with the type DBFS. All documents are stored on the FS and metadata is in DB. See: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/62/468698a8e611d5993600508b6b8b11/frameset.htm
Please be aware that some KM services and configurations are not automatically aplied on a new repository.
For example see: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/cc/b8f941db015f24e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
