RFC Error between ECC & PORTAL

HI ALL,

There is a RFC connection between ECC & PORTAL. When we test the

connection from sm59, it takes really long and through up the

error "Connection error: Error opening an RFC connection". We have

similar connection between PORTAL & BI, that works fine. I had tried

deleting and recreating it, but no success.

Hi,

Please check the following things

1. Ports opened between your Portal and R3 Server.

2. Host entries of EP/R3 Server added in both the servers

3. Check whether the Program Id created in portal is running.

Can you please explain your number 1 option "ports opened between your portal and R3 server". I'm not able to understand this.

Hi,

1. Ports to be opened, Please login to R/3 Server and check

telnet <EP Host name> <message server port>

telnet <EP Host name> <http port>

a blank screen should appear if the ports are opened

2. Login to R/3 Server, check under drivers/etc/hosts, wheter the entries of EP Server is there

<IP> Host Name
