Hi,
There is a RFC connection between ECC & PORTAL. When we test the
connection from sm59, it takes really long and through up the
error "Connection error: Error opening an RFC connection". We have a
similar connection between PORTAL & BI, that works fine. I had tried
deleting and recreating it, but no success.
Thanks,
Hi,
Could you please post the error details. So that we can see the actual error happening in your system

After Regestered Server Program (assign program ID EX: PORTAL_Hostname_PORTAL_SID)
also see ur gateway host and service (try to add it on hostfile)
and in EP did u define JCo RFC Provider...?

For registering your program you need to use Visual Administrator and after loggin into Visual Administrator tool using j2ee_admin/administrator go to JCO RFC provider and register it.
For host file entry/ go to the System's Start -> run and type drivers (it will directly take you to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers), then go to etc and open the host file using notepad.

in Jco RFc provider fill the required RFC destination field (Ex.. PORTAL_SAPEP_PORTAL_EPD)
SAPEP is my hostname and EPD is SID of my EP system ... now default in sm59 create a RFC destination in TCP-IP or use the existing one i.e SLD_UC .. edit it and put the above programme id.. and the gateway host what u have given in Jco provider...

Hi admin,
<Deleted by Moderator>
really appreciate your help.
Error:
The error I had so far realized in abap system in tocde smgw> over there is often shows that gateway is connected and all of the sudden it says not connected.
Basically when I try to test the connection in sm59, it dies.
The error i'm getting in portal system in work directory logs, it gives the error " program ID is not registered".
Thanks for the help guys.
