Sharing a Windows transport directory with iSeries

Hi there,

Any chance of sharing a Windows transport directory with an iSeries hosted SAP system? I've tried it via /QNTC and adding a '/usr/sap/trans' symbolic link pointing to it, but it only works if I log into the iSeries with the Windows <SID>adm user. Even creating a QSEOCFR on Windows won't let me access the directory as QSECOFR on the iSeries.

Regards

Bernd

Hi Bernd,

I would not use the route to Windows, I would like to try it on the iSeries ...

The following profile parameter would move it there:

wnt|transdir=
<iSeries>\sapmnt\trans

(at least when you share sapmnt points to /usr/sap. In some older installations, this is wrong and points to /sapmnt)

You only need users and passwords on the iSeries. Your Windows System needsd to run either with sidadm or with SAPSeSID but NOT with SAPServiceSID, as this one is longer than 10 bytes.

Your /QNTC idea should work as well, but sounds prettx complicated ... but I did this with e.g. QSECOFR already.

Hope this helps,

Hi Volker,

Just some background info: we're in the process of migrating a iSeries system landscape to VMware virtual machines (Windows /MSSQL). The iSeries TST system currently hosts the transport directory, which I will have to move to Windows as well. QAS and PRD will only follow in the next few months.

I'm not sure about /QNTC. Problem could be the Windows password policies (upper/lower case...)

Thanks & Regrads.

Hi Bernd,

ok, then you do have 2 options:

- change the windows policy and set the passwrods as you like to set them for these few users and set the policy back again

- change the iSeries policy to a similar thing than windows - you can setup up to 128 bytes password, upper & lower etc ...

for sure: the trans dir in this case should be on windows ...
